Nature Trails
A five-mile system of interconnecting nature trails with interpretive exhibits will link the open space preserve at Twelve Bridges, offering neighbors a chance to interact with their natural surroundings.
Open Space Buffers
A community open space buffer - natural open space with no development - has been established along the south and west perimeters of the project to provide a natural separation between the cities of Rocklin and Lincoln. Neighborhood open space buffers have been strategically located throughout Twelve Bridges to separate various areas of the community, adding to their individual identities and allowing for the preservation of environmentally sensitive areas, such as Heritage Oak groves.
Landscape Corridors
Landscape corridors and greenways have been built in conjunction with natural open space corridors and the pathway system. These create a strong link between neighborhoods and villages, and will make walking and biking a more appealing alternative to driving.
Parks
Community Park - One 22-acre active play community park is planned for Twelve Bridges. Intended to serve as a focal point for the community's recreational needs, this park, located in the Main Village of Twelve Bridges, is planned to include a sports complex and community center. Planned uses include baseball, soccer and football fields, basketball and tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, play equipment, and barbecue/picnic areas.
Neighborhood Parks - Five neighborhood parks totaling 34 acres are planned to add to the amenities of Twelve Bridges. Two are constructed, next to the elementary school and next to the middle school, and a third Passive Park surrounding a pond, off of Twelve Bridges Drive, will be constructed late 2007. The facilities and amenities of each park will vary, depending upon natural topography and environmental considerations.
